UPDATE Saturday, 3/7:
My art angels!!! Just days later, we have FAR exceeded our dreams of bringing inspiring art into House of Hope, a home for teen victims of sex trafficking. All my art prints have been covered, and a couple of passionate patrons have helped us place the original of Believe in the home as well. (!!!!! THIS was a dream that I didn't even have the guts to ask for, and they did it anyway. They pretty much insisted I reach beyond prints!!)
Funds and support keep coming in from my creative community, and we are now expanding our efforts to fill in a lot of the other blanks in this home as well!!
We are now also covering the walls and window and extra lighting of the dining room. The hallway and classroom also need art, decor, and furnishings. I'm working closely with the director to fill these extra spaces with encouraging visuals and verbals.
In short, this has expanded way beyond the art I proposed just a few days ago, so we are now taking your support even further!
All this to say thank you thank you and if you're interested in helping in any way, let us know!!!
Wednesday 3/14 post:
Tell me what does art do for your soul?
For me it calms, soothes, comforts and brings life to my world. And when I paint, I paint from the beautiful mess of life, speaking from and speaking to the broken places that need hope and healing.
And I know my art is in the right place when it connects with others who need hope and healing.
I've just been given the very exciting opportunity to contribute artwork to the House of Hope, a local recovery home for teen girls rescued from sex trafficking. The home is opening in a few months and is the second of its kind in the state of Georgia. The building and vision for this home are absolutely incredible!
The leaders have asked me to fill a good amount of space in the dining room where the girls will gather regularly for meals and other activities. They want this space to be a place of encouragement, of comfort, of home. So I've selected a collection of pieces that speak to growth, hope, and life. (See below.) These pieces will serve as a constant reminder that this is a place where wounds can be healed, hearts can be calmed and they can slowly learn to believe in the betterment of humanity and themselves.
Would you partner with me to cover the cost of these prints? ($750 to print and ship)
